The natural gas leak noted in today’s (Oct. 19) Alert Carolina informational message at 2:05 p.m. has been resolved and repaired. Gas service has been restored, and odors have mostly dissipated from the affected buildings. People in that area have resumed normal activities.

There is a natural gas leak near UNC Hospital on West Drive. The gas has been turned off, and Dominion Gas is on the scene to respond. There is a smell of gas in the area and in nearby buildings. Please avoid this area. If you are nearby, follow instructions from first responders.
