The Alert Carolina Emergency Notification System automatically sends out notifications through Alert Carolina when there are tornado warnings that the National Weather Service issues specifically for the Chapel Hill and Carrboro area. A tornado warning issued for our area would prompt an emergency warning notification protocol, accompanied by emergency sirens to alert people who are outdoors. More information.
