Students, Faculty, and Staff:
UNC Police is investigating multiple thefts of electric scooters that occurred between the dates of Sept. 14 and 25. Locations of these thefts include Carmichael, Craige, Morrison and Joyner Residence Halls as well as Granville Towers South, Phillips Hall and Graham Memorial Hall. UNC Police is currently investigating the thefts and is not ruling out the possibility that the incidents are related.
An investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available.
UNC Police recommends using a U-lock to secure your scooter whenever possible. Scooter owners are required to park their scooters in parking areas designated specifically for their vehicles and to register their scooters with UNC Transportation and Parking (registration aids in the recovery of lost or stolen vehicles). For more information or to register your scooter, visit the motorcycle/scooter page on the Transportation and Parking website.
Anyone with information should call 911 or UNC Police. The UNC Police Department is available 24 hours a day by calling 911 in an emergency or 919-962-8100 for non-emergency assistance. Officers are also available in person at the Public Safety Building located at 285 Manning Drive.
