Alert Carolina Informational: The University is monitoring Hurricane Dorian

Dear students, faculty and staff:

The University is monitoring the path of Hurricane Dorian, and its effects on the Eastern coastal region. The path of hurricanes can be unpredictable, so it is hard to definitively say how the Chapel Hill area will be affected at this point. However, many of our staff have already started preparing our campus for the possible winds and rain we may receive. Currently, there are no changes to campus operations or scheduled events for the week at this time.

In the meantime, updates can be found at alertcarolina.unc.edu. We will provide you with an update no later than 11 a.m. Wednesday. If you are traveling this week we urge you to be aware of local conditions and exercise extreme caution.

If you or your family are impacted by the storm, we have resources available to you. For students, if you are having issues returning to campus or from the areas that have been hit so far, and need assistance, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students at 919-966-4042, as well as Counseling and Psychological Services, part of Campus Health Services at 919-966-3658. Faculty or staff may call the Employee Assistance Program, ComPsych, toll-free, 24 hours a day at 877-314-5841.
