UPDATE: Police investigating detonated device on McCorkle Place, one suspect in custody

Around 3:40 p.m. a small device was detonated at the base of Davie Poplar on McCorkle Place. The fire was contained and there is no ongoing threat to campus. UNC Police have taken a suspect into custody. One person suffered non life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The campus remains open and is operating as normal. Cameron Ave. remains closed to through traffic between S Columbia St. and Raleigh St.

UNC Police continue to investigate the incident in coordination with local law enforcement.
