Informational Email from Alert Carolina: Chapel Hill Police Apprehend Speeding Suspect

UNC STUDENTS, STAFF, AND FACULTY:

Town of Chapel Hill Police apprehended a subject sought for speeding in Chapel Hill and in the UNC campus area this morning near the UNC Institute of Government.

At approximately 9:56 a.m., the Chapel Hill Police Department began pursuit of a driver who was speeding on NC 54 east of campus.  The driver led police on a chase toward I40 where he struck another vehicle.  He then turned and headed toward the UNC Campus.  After striking another vehicle at the corner of UNC’s South Road and Country Club Drive, the driver exited the car.  Chapel Hill Police quickly apprehended the individual at the Institute of Government Parking Deck.  The suspect is not affiliated with UNC.  No weapons were reported.
