Chapel Hill Police Make Arrest in Early Morning Shooting
At approximately 2:40 AM on June 22, Chapel Hill Police Officers responded to a report that subjects were fighting in the 100 block of East Franklin Street. When officers arrived on scene they found Steven Charles Moore Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Moore was transported to UNC-ER for treatment. His wounds are not believed to be life threatening.
Officers located the suspected shooter, Ladarren Deshawn Parker (DOB 8/17/1995), a short distance from the shooting. Parker, of N. Guthrie Ave, Durham, was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Resisting Arrest. Parker was transported to the Orange County Jail and is being held on a $15,000 secured bond.
The investigation is ongoing and further information may be released when it becomes available.
