INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE FROM ALERT CAROLINA: Chapel Hill Police Investigate Sexual Battery Incident

The Town of Chapel Hill Police Department is investigating a report of sexual battery (by unwanted touching) that occurred on Church Street (between West Rosemary and Caldwell Streets) at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, May 20.

A female victim reported being followed by an unknown, shirtless, black male as she was walking. The male suspect approached her from behind, spoke to her and then briefly grabbed her. The victim screamed, and the suspect fled on foot.

Chapel Hill Police are asking anyone with information that may help to identify the suspect to call 911 or contact the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at (919) 942-7515. Calls are confidential and anonymous. You can also submit information to Crime Stoppers online at http://www.crimestoppers-chcunc.org.
