Sept. 26 Seasonal Flu Vaccination Clinic for Employees and Immediate Family

Dear Faculty and Staff:

The University is holding a special seasonal influenza vaccination clinic for employees and their immediate family members on Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the William and Ida Friday Conference Center.

Employees must register for the clinic through http://ehs.unc.edu/ueohc/flushot.shtml, or log on to http://ehs.unc.edu and click on the orange poster at the top of the page.

You do not have to indicate how many family members you will bring to the clinic. We do request, however, that if you do not need to use this clinic for family members, please use the existing on-campus clinics to receive your own vaccination (see http://ehs.unc.edu/ueohc/flushot.shtml for the list of clinics).

The shots are free to employees and their immediate family members covered under the following insurance company plans: Blue Cross Blue Shield; Partners; Aetna; Humana Gold; SummaCare; Advantra Freedom and Medicare Part B.

At your appointment, you will need to present an insurance card for every member of your family who will be vaccinated, along with a photo ID for all family members over age 16. If you are not covered under a plan by any of the insurance companies listed above, you can still receive a shot, but you will be required to pay $30 by cash or check at the time of the vaccination.

These shots are for seasonal influenza only. They will not provide protection against H1N1. Information about the H1N1 vaccine is available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's H1N1 site at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/public/vaccination_qa_pub.htm.

Health experts advise against taking a chance on getting the flu because it can lead to serious complications, and in some cases, even death.

If you have additional questions, please e-mail jacovely@ehs.unc.edu.

Sincerely,

Mary Beth Koza
