The University, in partnership with the State Health Plan will be offering seasonal influenza vaccinations again this year to employees, beginning Tuesday, September 22nd. To make an appointment, click here:
http://ehs.unc.edu/ueohc/flushot.shtml, or log on to http://ehs.unc.edu and click on the orange poster at the top of the page. If you have difficulty accessing the EHS website, ask your supervisor or administrative staff to assist you.
The shots are free to employees covered under the State Health Plan. At your appointment, you will need to present your State Health Plan card along with a photo ID for coverage under the plan. If you are not a member of the State Health Plan, you can still receive a shot, but you will be required to pay $30 by cash or check at the time of vaccination.
These shots are for seasonal influenza only. They will not provide protection against H1N1. For more information about the H1N1 vaccine, go to the Centers for Disease Control H1N1 site at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/public/vaccination_qa_pub.htm
We regret that we are not able to provide flu shots to employee's family members because of parking and staff limitations. However, we encourage everyone to get a flu shot, so log on to http://flucliniclocator.org, enter your zip code, and you will see a list of clinics in your area.
Health experts advise against taking a chance on getting the flu because it can lead to serious complications, and, in some cases, even death.
